Getting Jewbilant about He'Brew + Seattle V-Day Beer Dinners

Still fighting the good fight on the residual effects of the cold. I thought about giving up beer for a couple days to let the immune system recharge, but I have to keep my drinking tolerance up for the coming apocalypse of the Bay Area Beerapalooza events I'm attending this weekend.

At least I can taste beer again. I'm still mostly sticking with IPAs until I'm sure I can handle subtlety. Last night, I split a bottle of the He'Brew Jewbilation 11. Jeezus, what a beer. 11 hops, 11 malts, 11% alcohol. So much going on flavor-wise and so potent yet so drinkable. I'm glad I split it. It's going to be interesting to see how the brewers at Shmaltz keep the Jewbilation drinkable as we move up to 12 and beyond. They've done a pretty great job with 10 and 11.

As some know, this week marks the dreaded annual V-Day. As my only acknowledgement of it, I've written up a post on Seattle Valentine's Day Beer Dinners for Metroblogging Seattle.

Not sure why, but I chuckled at the use of Jeezus in a post about He'Brew beer.

So your lady friend doesn't make you "celebrate" VD? You lucky bastard. My only saving grace this year is that my wife is in Anchorage for work (and hopefully bringing me some Midnight Sun bombers back).

VD actually roughly marks our anniversary. It's 8 years this year. That's a frickin long time. This week is really busy for both of us, so we're planning on celebrating next week with a good meal out (if my liver, kidneys and other internal organs survive the weekend).

Besides you here and on Metroblogging Seattle, I read the Good Beer Blog and Knut Albert's blog. Can you recommend any others?

Depends what you're looking for...beer reviews, local/regional slant, industry news, etc. Here are some I look at and most of them have links to other good ones:

Hedonist Beer Jive from SF.

Summer of Beer from SoCal.

Brookston Beer Bulletin from NorCal.

Pacific Brew News from NorCal.

Beervana from Portland.

SevenPack from somewhere.

I haven't heard of the grreat He'Brew Jewbilation series. I will have to find me some. The Old Vicosity I had last night from Port Brewing was most excellent. I know my car's engine can't run on it but mine sure can.
