damn you...damn you all to hell

just finished watching the planet of the apes dvd. the movie itself was okay, although i'm still partial to the original. the makeup, costumes and special effects in the new one were amazing. the dvd documentaries were pretty good too. we've been watching a lot of dvds lately. we grabbed 4 at lost weekend today, thinking that should hold us over through xmas day. not much else to do for the next few days except relax, eat and watch some movies.
francesca bought a tofurky and i guess she's going to cook that up on tuesday. i'm thinking of making a vegan pumpkin pie for dessert. we're sort of doing a vegan thanksgiving dinner a month late or something. i'm just happy to be able to kick back and not have the pressures of last minute shopping and family gatherings. don't get me wrong, the family stuff is alright. it's just that i'm not enthusiastic about all this holiday stuff and i'm much happier to spend it holed up in my apt. instead of on long plane rides across the country for a few days of eating and exchanging gifts.
kristina and i did some extensive record shopping at both amoebas over the weekend. i got around 15 cds, which was a little excessive. but most of them were only a buck or two, so it's hard to keep from pulling the trigger at those prices. i tried to buy a variety of things from punk to pop to rap and instrumental. i'm still slowly making my way through the purchases and a lot of the things i took a chance on have sounded suprisingly good. can't say the same for the iran cd that kristina got on a whim.
on the way to our first night of record binging on friday, i met kristina at the AK warehouse in the 'hood in oakland. from the sounds of things, i'm the front-runner for one of the open positions in the collective. i'm still not sure if it's something i'm ready to commit to, but i'm leaning in the direction of accepting if an offer comes my way. they're going to interview me in the next week or two. i might be starting off the new year with some big changes. we'll see how it all turns out...
