make sure that you are sure of everything i do

from what i've heard from kai, the elvis costello show in berkeley last night was pretty good. it sounds like he played a good mix of old and new. i'm partial to the older stuff because the music has more energy and the lyrics have more anger. not to say that the new stuff is bad, i just connect more with the first 2 or 3 albums he made. but due to the cost of the show, i never seriously considered going. it's hard for me to justify shelling out 20-30 dollars for a show, even if it's somebody i've always wanted to see and never have.

i'm definitely going to have to make an exception soon, though. after playing a couple reunion shows on the east coast earlier this year, mission of burma will be playing here in july. i can't miss that one. the opportunity to hear all those songs i've listened to over the years in a live setting is too good to pass up.

tonight i have to head over to the dreaded marina and deal with insufferably smug yuppies. somehow, i had the bright idea of getting a softball team together. i got kai excited about the idea and due to my socialretardedness and the fact that the friends i do have don't play sports much, he basically had to take the reins and make it happen. tonight, we all have to sign the roster and pay our dues so kai can turn everything in before the deadline. it'll be fun and i'm looking forward to getting out there and competing, but i have this fear that we'll have some lame team name and a team image of a bunch starbucks-going, SUV-driving, sushi-eaters. oh well, i guess we'll all have beer in common...
