the subject line is all i have to say about yesterday's kings-lakers game. i can't believe how close they were to going up 3-1. talk about a momentum-shifter.

on thursday i went out and drank too much. it was alright because i was taking friday off. i woke up on friday a bit hung over, but nothing too drastic. i took a nap on friday afternoon and woke up refreshed. a few hours later, i started getting a vicious headache. i never take medicine if i can help it. not even an aspirin or tylenol. but the shit was so painful i had to. all the tylenol did was dull the pain for awhile and then it came back. this went on until yesterday afternoon and then mysteriously stopped. i don't know what the fuck it was, but i started to think maybe i had a brain tumor or something. who knows. i'm upset that i lost 2 and a half days of my weekend lying in bed.

a lot of people called me this weekend and i didn't return their calls. i feel bad, but i wasn't actually avoiding them. i was avoiding all sound, noise or movement of any kind. i guess i'll have to make some calls today.

last night i watched an excellent korean horror movie called tell me something. it was a serial killer movie and sick bastard that i am, i love those kind of flicks. i think it's the investigation part and the cat and mouse stuff between the killer and the detectives that i like, but maybe i just have a thing for serial killers. anyway, it had some really creepy moments and some stomach-churning gory scenes as well. the koreans don't shy away from splattering blood. as mentioned in the review i linked, the ending is a little weak. it's not incomprehensible, like the end of the french movie the crimson rivers, but it's not entirely satisfying. still, it's well acted and suspenseful and worth seeing if you're into that kind of film.

i've been seeing a lot of korean movies lately and they've all been really high quality. the koreans seem to follow the western style of filmmaking more than they do in hong kong. the plots are more conventional and there's less off-the-wall, over-the-top stuff than in HK films. at the same time, you can see an HK influence in some of the korean films. but hell, i've only seen a handful of korean movies. there's so much more still to be discovered...
