The Beer Retard - January 14th, 2003

A couple of interesting tidbits gleaned over breakfast this morning. First, Pete Townshend got arrested on kiddie porn charges. What the hell? From what I've read, he claims he's writing an autobiography, thinks he might've been molested as a child and visited some child porn sites to do research. I'd like to believe him and I'm always skeptical of what the cops say, but why is he being charged with incitement to distribute or whatever? That's some strange shit. I wonder how slipkid feels about all this considering he's the biggest Who freak on the planet.

Also this morning, I heard about how the Guardian Angels are coming out to Oakland because the murder rate is out of control. If it ends up helping some of the communities over there, great...but I don't know what to think of these people. Curtis Sliwa, the leader of the Angels, was interviewed on the local news this morning and he came off like a slick used car salesman. Maybe he's gotten too into playing at politics over the years. But I can't really say anything about the Angels because I've never had any experience with them.
