Cure for the common cold?

It sucks that I'm living my last week in SF with some kind of nasty cold. The good news is that I've managed to get on the road to recovery in just a couple days. The mucus factory phase only lasted a day and half and things are almost dried up already. I'm currently in the blow your nose once every couple hours and clear your throat every half hour phase. Now, if I can keep the phlegm thin enough, I'm hoping I'll avoid a cough altogether. I think I've found the perfect formula for kicking a cold's ass. First thing is to put down the beers and smokes until you're 100%. It's key to stick with this and not start in again when you start to feel better but aren't completely well yet. If you have to indulge your vices, better to have a beer or two (literally) but not a smoke. I've even heard some bullshit about how certain beers are good for a cold. The next thing is to bombard your system with non-alcoholic liquids. Water, tea (I recommend the Yogi Cold Season and Breathe Deep teas), juice, broth. Drink the liquids until you're peeing every hour. It keeps the mucus thin and cleanses the system. The final thing is Emergen-C. Those little packets that have a bunch of vitamins and amino acids and whatnot. They have zinc too, which is good for colds. Take 2-3 of those a day. It'll boost your immune system and prevent you from getting too run down. You can also throw in some herbal lozenges for sore throats and/or coughs. Fuck that NyQuil and DayQuil and all the other crappy over the counter medicine.
Tonight is my last pool league match before I move.
slipkid and I are both 5-1 on the season after the first two matches. Our team is 1-1. With me moving and SK heading out on his honeymoon, we're hoping to get a victory tonight because the team will be very shorthanded for the first couple weeks of October. There's also the personal bragging rights of who has the better record. Hopefully, we'll both be 8-1 or at least 7-2 after the night's over. I also hope some of our other players step up and play well tonight.
